ABDUCTION OF CAC MEMBERS ON OWO-BENIN EXPRESSWAY: CONYSSA REACTS

The Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) Ondo State Chapter strongly condemns the recent abduction of about Twenty-Five (25) members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) from Akure, who were en route to Ifon, Ose local government area, for a burial ceremony. This incident occurred along the Owo-Ifon-Benin road, an area notorious for kidnappings and armed robberies.

It is with a sense of relief and gratitude that we announce the rescue of eight choristers from the CAC Oke Igan branch in Akure, who were among those abducted. We commend the swift and diligent efforts of the Security Apparatus in the State in securing their release.

However, our hearts remain heavy as we call for the immediate and safe release of the remaining kidnapped victims.

The safety of our citizens is paramount, and it is distressing that the Owo-Benin Expressway has become a breeding ground for criminal activities. CONYSSA urges the relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the security of this vital transportation route. We implore them to reclaim the territory currently under the control of kidnappers in the Ifon axis and to take decisive actions to prevent further abductions along this road.

In these trying times, CONYSSA stands united with the affected families and the entire community, and we remain committed to advocating for enhanced security measures to protect our citizens. We call upon the government to prioritize the safety of our roads and the security of our people. Together, we can make our highways safe once again.

The Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the safety and security of Nigerian citizens, particularly the youth. We work tirelessly to raise awareness, engage with stakeholders, and advocate for improved security measures to protect our communities.

Olusa Christopher Advocates for Sustainable Alternatives to Plastic Pollution

Akure, September 28, 2023 - In a significant move toward combating the pervasive problem of plastic pollution in Ondo State, Christopher Olusa, the owner of TalkWithTheDuke and a renowned advocate, lent his voice to the cause during a gathering hosted by the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency.

The event, held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Akure, brought together key stakeholders, government officials, and environmental advocates to address the escalating issue of plastic pollution in the region. Christopher Olusa, who recently made headlines by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest speech marathon by an individual, seized the opportunity to champion sustainable alternatives to plastic.

Addressing the audience, Olusa Christopher extended his gratitude to the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency and Hon. Oseni, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Affairs, for organizing the impactful event.

As a prominent climate change advocate, Olusa highlighted the urgent need for concerted efforts in tackling plastic pollution. He emphasized the necessity of reducing reliance on single-use plastics and transitioning to more sustainable materials. Biodegradable plastics, derived from sources like cornstarch, potato starch, or sugarcane, offer a viable alternative due to their ability to break down more rapidly than conventional plastics.

Olusa also underscored the significance of paper products as a biodegradable and renewable substitute for plastics. Paper, he argued, presents a sustainable solution with fewer environmental repercussions.

He called for a more comprehensive approach to raise public awareness and educate citizens about the environmental consequences of plastic pollution. Olusa insisted that the Ondo State government should play an active role in promoting these alternatives to plastics.

Furthermore, Olusa Christopher emphasized that environmental concerns should be treated as an emergency, a sentiment echoed by the Hon. Commissioner of Health. He pointed out that issues like flooding, mentioned by the representatives of the House Committee on Environment, are directly and indirectly linked to plastic waste pollution. Plastic waste often clogs drainage systems, obstructing the efficient flow of rainwater and resulting in localized flooding during heavy rainfall.

As the fight against plastic pollution gains momentum, Olusa Christopher's advocacy contributes significantly to shaping policies and raising awareness about the urgent need to transition to sustainable alternatives in Ondo State.

The event marked a pivotal moment in the state's efforts to combat plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability, with advocates like Christopher Olusa leading the charge.

CONCERNED AKOKO NORTH EAST YOUTH DISASSOCIATE FROM AGITATING GROUP, EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR BTO'S CHOICE OF ASPIRANT IN THE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY BYE-ELECTION

The Concerned Youth of Akoko North East, in their entirety, have come forward to dissociate themselves from a certain group that is advocating for the MHR (Member of House of Representatives) slot to be exclusively reserved for a particular local government. The Concerned Akoko North East Youth firmly adhere to the principle that good development should not be sacrificed for parochial sentiments of rotational representation that lacks binding validity.

This united stand was solidified during a meeting organized by the Concerned Youth in Akoko North East, where it was unanimously agreed upon that the voice of the youth deserves to be heard in support of their preferred candidate, regardless of their local government affiliation.

The determination to prioritize the progress and development of the constituency led to the unequivocal endorsement of BTO, the former representative, and his freedom to choose and support any aspirant in the forthcoming bye-election in the Akoko North East/North West federal constituency.

As the Concerned youth of Akoko North East, we firmly believe that BTO, renowned for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the welfare of the constituency, will select an individual who possesses the capabilities and dedication needed to continue his outstanding legacy in the federal constituency. Our confidence in his discernment stems from his unwavering dedication to public service and his proven track record in facilitating progress and prosperity.

It is essential to emphasize that our support for BTO's chosen aspirant transcends personal interests and local government boundaries, as we prioritize the greater welfare of Akoko North East and North West federal constituency. We firmly stand against any form of divisive sentiment that hampers unity and development.

The Concerned Akoko North East Youth wholeheartedly lend their unwavering support to the vision and legacy of BTO, as we trust in his ability to make the best decision for the future of our constituency. Our collective voice resonates with the commitment to support any aspirant selected by BTO, ensuring a continuous pursuit of development, progress, and prosperity within our federal constituency.

Group Condemns Adeleke for Begging, Prostrating for Makinde

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has done the unthinkable by going on his knees to beg his Oyo State counterpart,Engr Seyi Makinde for forgiveness.

This happened on Friday night at Oyo State Government House lodge in Abuja when Adeleke led a delegation to beg the Oyo State helmsman for forgiveness over his perceived subtle political antagonism against Makinde.

Besides,Adeleke was said to have gone to Makinde to solicit for support because candidate that would replace the late National Vice Chairman South West of the party, Hon Soji Adagunodo. Already, Adeleke is said to have three names close to his chest out of which one of them would be chosen.

This however, is not sitting well with some indigenes of the state operating under the aegis of Osun Concretely led by Ajao Olawoyin, who feel by so doing, Adeleke has demeaned his position and at the same, belittled the people of Osun There has been no love lost between the two governors before and after gubernatorial elections in the two states due to the perceived ineptitude of Ademola Adeleke which is now proving to be true. This situation came on the heels on Friday night in Abuja when Adeleke in the company of some his commissioners and some party chieftains, begged Makinde to forgive him in whatever way he (Adeleke) must have wronged him.

This is a result of Makinde's refusal to endorse a zonal PDP meeting slated for Osogbo on Monday, 7th of August at the Osun State Government House as put out by his Commissioner for Commerce Rev Bunmi Jenyo but has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, 9th of August as at the time of making this report. According to Olawoyin, it's insulting and degrading for Adeleke to be kowtowing to another governor just because he feels threatened by the personality of Makinde. "It's raunchy on the part of Ademola Adeleke to have gone to that debasing level,if truly he prostrated and begged Makinde profusely as being alleged. Though we don't have anything against Governor Makinde, we however feel such a disgraceful attitude is unbecoming of a governor, especially that of Osun peopled by great men and women" said Adewoyin The group further charged Governor Ademola Adeleke to live up to his office by being in charge of affairs of the state instead of governance by proxy.

Meanwhile, tongues have been wagging as to why the statement for the PDP meeting slated for Monday, was issued by the Commissioner for Commerce Rev Bunmi Jenyo. Already, this development is said to be generating some ruckus among Adeleke's cabinet members, especially with the Chief of Staff,Kazeem Akinleye, allegedly feeling slighted about some brewing untoward developments.

Worse still, stakeholders and the Zonal Exco of the party in South West, have threatened not to attend the meeting, contending that the powers of summoning such meeting is vested in them "As it stands, the meeting called by Ademola Adeleke appears jinxed as stakeholders are really upset by the manner everything is panning out within the party, especially as being orchestrated by Adeleke and his cohorts.
